2 Months Today - Scrap The Boys

Dropping by to sneak in one last layout for the month. There are many layouts that I wanted to do this month but simply ran out of time, darn life, sometimes it just gets in the way =P
This page goes back almost exactly a year to Jayces 2 month b'day.

2 Months Today

I have had these photos printing for a loooong time, well since Jayce was 2 months old. Good ol' faithful Scrap The Boys challenge blog finally kicked my butt into gear with the August challenge to 'profiling'.

I have profiled Jayce at this age in two places. A Fancy Pants tag which hangs near the title holds the very basic general baby details. While a card that slides behind the photo holds more personal traits (apparently I forgot to photo it out, will do and add it soon) such as likes bath, loves food, hates sleep... etc

All the papers are from Websters Pages super adorable 'Hello World' collection. To create the back ground I began with white cardstock and cut it  down to size, then cut strips and edge punched a few before layering them and trimming ends.

The '2' from the title is also the 2 that is in the pictures. I did consider painting it but thought by leaving it natural the link between the two 2's would be more apparent.

So, thank you for checking out this page and see you in September.

I Love You - Sassy Scrappers

Hello.
Happy Friday! Do you have weekend plans? I'm hoping to do my work quickly then do nothing but be with my family, and hopefully, just maybe, squeeze in a scrap page too. Fingers crossed.
For now though I have a layout to share of my lil bub at just 6 months old. I used to take a photo everytime she wore a new outfit, this is just one I particularly like.

I Love You

This page was inspired by the beautiful August mood board at Sassy Scrappers. I fell hard for this board as soon as I saw it! The colours and images are amazing! I took a little bit of inspiration from each image.

First off I accidentally mistook the left middle picture for a bokeh pattern, (I actually only just realised it is flowers, woops) which reminded me of the background paper Bokeh Blur from Echo Parks 'Capture Life' collection. I stayed with this collection for almost the entire page.

Unlike my normal process, I did not have a title in mind for the page when I began however the top left picture made my choice easy. I covered a Words Or Whatever (WOW) LOVE title piece with white Gesso and used the Capture Life Alpha Stickers.

The middle bottom picture caused me to dig deep into my stash to find these feathers from Bella Blvd, I did try to create a 'dipped' look with a hot pink feather but it did not end pretty so instead just used the two different colours alternating with the title.
To adhere them I stapled the steams to the page and covered it up with the 'life is beautiful' sticker.

The big right ice cream cone made me want to bring some brown into the mix, lucky the collection had just the right paper so I created a boarder top and bottom and throw on a few embellishments

The flair button is a great colour match from The Greatest View while the sticker came from an earlier Echo Park collection 'Everyday Eclectic'
Why not come back again another day!?

My Mr Star Man - My Scraps & More

Back again. Hopefully not for the ladt time this month. There are soo many layouts I want to do and never enough time.
Today I add another page to the 'My Mr Man' series which is pretty much an excuse to scrap my favourite photos of Jayce =D

My Mr Star Man.

Almost all his suits had stars on them but this one was my favourite. And these photos making me involuntarily smile!
The pages design came courtesy of My Scraps & More sketck challenge, which looks like this:

I instantly LOVED it and knew exactly what I was going to do! In fact the sketch was so perfect that for the first time ever I created to page without the photos!
The layout is 90% Bella Blvd 'Lucky Stars' collection.

In fact the strips that form the herringbone triangles are from the front page of the collection pack where it showcases the papers inside!

I also used a few bits from the 'Max' collection and star stamps from Elle's Studio.

The 'super star' has been fussy cut from an extremely old piece of Bella Blvd that I have slowly been cutting away at and using on all my pages, like here and here and here.

Seeing as I intend to use this title a lot and it involves 3 m's I have taken to cutting out the letters using a cricut each time I visit my home town and can get my hands on one at the LSS =)

Finally the date stamped with an Amy Tangerine stamp and page done.
Thanks for checking it out! Why not leave some love it the comments? Or hate? I don't mind.

Edit: I am proud to note that this layout was chosen as a one of the Top 3 layouts for August at My Scraps & More. Thank you!

Those Cheeks - WW1

Well, after a stellar July so far August has been a bit of a flop, only in scrapbooking though. All other areas of life have been go go go! I have been working weekends, we celebrated Chloes third birthday, had an impromptu trip to Victoria, Brenden has worked away 90% of the time add general life on top and there has been no room to get creative.
Until now.

Last month I took part in the White With 1 challenge (HERE) something I thought would be a serious challenge but it turned out thoroughly enjoyable and found it freeing. So I promised myself I would take part again this month. BUT I was certainly not expecting this:

White and Liquorice. White and BLACK! I thought one colour would be tricky enough but NO colour! I literally said 'oh crap' out loud when I saw the reveal.
However, I kept to my promise. And this is what I came up with:

Those Cheeks.

The photo is a quick side profile snap of Jayce taken on my phone while relaxing on the coach one day. I used to get soo many comments about his cheeks when out and about. They did look oh so squeezable. They still do!

My first instinct to tackle this challenge was to head in a more mixed media/getting messy direction, so I deliberately did the opposite!

The page began by tracing around the Hiedi Swapp stencil onto white cardstock then cutting it out with my craft knife. After that I gathered together my Bella Blvd papers which featured black and white patterns and backed all the hearts.

I used one of the hearts to journal inside and after that I simply chose a few words that described his checks, including chipboard from Words Or Whatever which have been coloured with a sharpie.

There is also a APOCD flair button and a few black epoxy dots.

With all the descriptive words spread around the hearts I decided to keep the title just as 'Those Cheeks' and have again used a sharpie to turn would-be white stickers black.
Thanks for coming around.

A Question Or Two

Hey there wonderful friends in the bloggersphere.
I am interupting my usual stream of scrapbooking pages to ask a favour of you, yes you! The amazing reader of this humble blog.
You may or may not have noticed a little tab at the top of my blog which reads 'Scrap Resume'. Currently this takes you to a rather useless page with a very small bit of poorly worded blurb about myself and scrapbooking.
I would like to update and rewrite this page so it can become imfortative, postive and correct.
Hence I am asking you, the subjective reader of my blog a few questions which a would truly appreciate your in put in and any other suggestions.
First off, how would you describe my style of scrapbooking? If it helps feel free to drop by my Scrapbook.com gallery here. It certainly does not have all my layouts but hopefully enough to get a feel.
Also, what information is important for a scrapbooking resume? I cant say I have really written one before.
How often should the scrap resume be updated?
I tend to participate in many online scrapping challenges and have been lucky enough to win a few, should I list these there?
I would value any in put and suggestions.
Thank you so very much in advance!!

Snuggles - Scrap365

And it begins another month. July was certainly my most productive month in terms of the number of layouts created and other aspects of life too. It was a very rare month of perfect balance. I hope it will continue.
To begin the month I have a layout to share of a very little Chloe and I.

This is an all time favourite photo of Chloe and I. It was taken way back in November 2011 prior to this we had only managed to capture a smile on film once, so I was amazed (and frilled) when I looked back at my camera roll later and saw this!

The design of the page was inspired by the August sketch challenge at Scrap365. I LOVE this sketch it is nice and simple with clear focus points. Plus I love that it doesn't determine the title location.

I have again decided to stitch my title like I did for this layout here. I really enjoy the effect plus with the amazing sunshine we have had these last few weeks, it is something I can do outside or at the park while the kiddos play. To get the holes in the right place, I printed the desired word/shape onto vellum then using a needle poked holes through the vellum and patterned paper.

I also stitched right around the boarder of the page to break up the pink a little, after it was all stuck down I went to take some pictures but thought the pink to teal was just a tad to strong.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum, only adding a few cut outs form the Elle's Studio 'Love You More' collection (actually all the papers are Elle's Studio 'Love You More') and some wood veneer from Studio Calico. Oh and some Elle's Studio stamps.

Finally I added a piece of flair from A Piece Of Cake Designs APOCD. And to help it pop a bit more I stuck a piece of left over string to the back then pulled the threads apart.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a fantastic week.
