2 Months Today - Scrap The Boys

Dropping by to sneak in one last layout for the month. There are many layouts that I wanted to do this month but simply ran out of time, darn life, sometimes it just gets in the way =P
This page goes back almost exactly a year to Jayces 2 month b'day.

2 Months Today

I have had these photos printing for a loooong time, well since Jayce was 2 months old. Good ol' faithful Scrap The Boys challenge blog finally kicked my butt into gear with the August challenge to 'profiling'.

I have profiled Jayce at this age in two places. A Fancy Pants tag which hangs near the title holds the very basic general baby details. While a card that slides behind the photo holds more personal traits (apparently I forgot to photo it out, will do and add it soon) such as likes bath, loves food, hates sleep... etc

All the papers are from Websters Pages super adorable 'Hello World' collection. To create the back ground I began with white cardstock and cut it  down to size, then cut strips and edge punched a few before layering them and trimming ends.

The '2' from the title is also the 2 that is in the pictures. I did consider painting it but thought by leaving it natural the link between the two 2's would be more apparent.

(heart) you - Sassy Scrappers & Flutterby Designs

So I did a very quick inventory of my scrapbooks the other day and was completely blown away to discovered that I have created over 100 pages!!! WOW!
But then a kinda sad thought pop into my head. In ALL of these pages there was not a single layout of just Brenden and I... So I set about fixing that.

This has to be one of my most favourite photos of us, we look just like us, our everyday selves. It was taken October 2009 at Octoberfest in Tempe NSW, an event we promise to attend every year but haven't made it since having the kids.

I turned to some scrappy challenges to get this page done. First up I used the sketch challenge for Flutterby Designs 1st Birthday celebrations. The photo was a bit big to use this sketch to its full potential but unfortunately this is the only quality print I have of it =( My digital version has been lost, so this is actually a photocopy of picture I have had in a frame which has now been damaged.

I also took inspiration from the July Moodboard at Sassy Scrappers. As much as I absolutely love the white black and teal colour combo in the board, it was the black and sparkly gold that stuck with me.

The page uses only two pieces of pattern paper, both from the 'Sprinkled with Love' collection from Websters Pages. The repeated squares are gold foiled vellum which I hand cut super easily on my craft mat by simply following the lines I could see through the vellum.

The background has been given a little spray with both black and white dylusions mist to mix it up a bit with two WOW altaMATZ that I have then outlined in a white pen. I've also used texture paste and put a bunch of hearts all around the two focus areas of the page.

I loved the design of the (heart)you so much I decided to make it my title by hand stitching in the middle of the design with gold and white thread. I even used a matching piece of chipboard that I painted gold too.

Two other WOW chipboard piece make an appearance also painted gold at the top of the photo.

Dream Big - Creative Scrappers

I'm currently playing scrappy-catch-up for photos of my son, Jayce. This next layout features a sweet photo my mum took of him sleeping at just over 4 weeks old.
The layout is probably a lot softer then my usual page, but then again I have never claimed to have a single set style anyway and tend to let the photos feel guide me.

Dream Big... To The Moon

For as long as I have been scrapbooking (on and off for about 2.5 years now) I have brought every cloud pattern paper I have come across. And I have no idea why anymore. Where did it start? I think the idea was to do a page about Chloe learning to crawl (which I still haven't done...) and call it 'up up and away'.
Fast forward to now and I have ALOT of cloud papers and have never used any of them. As soon as I recently saw this photo at my mums I knew they'd finally have a purpose.

The layout design was inspired by 1 of the 12 birthday sketches over at Creative Scrappers. I haven't played along with one of their sketches since before my crafty break while pregnant and what better challenge to jump back in with. Hopefully I don't need to tell you it is the top right sketch that I have used.

The above photo looks down the layout in an attempt to show you all the layers. Each cloud paper has been cut into a straight line but all clouds on said line fussy cut around. Each stripe has only been attached at the bottom end so they can lift slightly.

The white cardstock is actually a 'frame' foam dotted above the clouds and the 'love you' is attached to it so that it also sits above. I stitched around the frame to add a little bit of interest to it, but my have been a bit too keen considering it was only the second time using the sewing machine and rounding a corner smoothly proved to be very tricky!

This 'Dream Big' journal card comes with the new Hello World collection pack from Websters Pages and pulls out on this layout to reveal my journalling which says "1st July 2013. Jayce at 4 weeks old, this is currently a very rare sight" 

I have again kept the embellishments to a minimum as the background is quite busy, only adding a few extra clouds here and there plus the obvious stating cricut baby boy.

You & Me - SATW & ScrapFriends

Hello there!
I'm back with your regular viewing, a layout! I suppose a slight difference though, this layout has ME in it. Shock! I absolutely love this photo of Chloe and I (and some eagle eyed views may have noticed it become my profile picture all over the place back in December). It was taken by my camera crazy work friend Toan at the work Christmas party, Chloe did so well! She was super duper tired by the time this photo was taken then had to back it up with another Christmas party after.

You & Me

So because I'm pretty much a junkie for these things =P I designed my layout around the current sketch challenge over at ScrapFriends an online scrap shop that knows how to throw a sale!

I don't think I could have got more exact to the sketch! It was such an amazing design that it didn't need any twisting.

However I was inspired even more so by the current mood board at Scrap Around The World.

This truly is an amazing board and I think I took a lil' some'em some'em from every picture!
The bottom middle picture convinced me to use lots of hearts (not that I need much) and to marry this with the sketch while the top right picture of the cake moved me to make them an ombre from dark purple to light pink both with a stencil and with chipboard hearts.

The top left picture lend me straight to the background pattern paper from Websters Pages Record It collection and I decided to stay there for the rest of the papers as well. It also prompted me to get a bit messy!

I used the bottom right picture of ombre increasing size pots influence the hearts on my page. The full hearts have simply been painted while I liked the hint of bare wood from the outline hearts although they needed a something, twine to the rescue! Just wrap and staple.

The title is a Kaisercraft wood words which said all I needed to say and leaving it bare made it stand out the perfect amount.

I used a stencil/mask to paint little gold triangles around the page and even on the photo also due to the pot picture! Pretty big deal for me! To finish the page off I threw on two flair badges from APOCD.

As I feel that my own hand writing destroys a scrap page I have hidden the who what where when behind the photo.

New-Do - Life.Paper.Scrapbook & Websters Pages

You guys must have wished super duper hard! The scrapbook fairies brought me back again on the same day!! I have a layout of my beautiful baby to share.
The page features Chloe showing off a 'new-do' that my cousin Anna did for her. I am still amazed that she managed to keep her still for that long!! Unfortunately it only lasted for about 5 minutes as Chloe tried to brush her hair and actually got upset when she realised it was ruined.

The layout is inspired by the sketch challenge over at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. When I saw this sketch it was one of those 'I MUST use this' moments. I experimented for awhile about what to make the grid out of, patterned paper, tided twine or drawing but I had never done eyelets and by now you guys should know I like trying knew things, so eyelets it was.

I was also inspired by Websters Pages. You might remember at the start of the month I shared a layout using only their products here and I still had the remnants left on near my craft space when I found their 'scrap your stash' challenges on the blog. I just couldn't resist!
There were 5 challenges. Monochromatic, Sticky, Soft, Metallic and Sketch. Here I have combined both:
Day 2 - Use something sticky.

Lots and lots of stickers spread around the sections of this layout from the Postcards From Paris 2 which are perfect from anything to do with Chloe!

And day 4 - Use metallic elements. And Websters have LOTS of great lil embellishments that cover this. I have used charms and paperclips also from the Postcards From Paris 2 collection.

While all of the papers are from the Recorded collection. There is heaps of fussy cutting in this page. All of the peg frames have been fussy cut along with a few other elements. (And I only cut myself once but being a scrapbooker I wrapped it with washi tape a kept going.)

So twice in one day hey, wonder if I can keep it up...

Dress Ups - Scrap The Girls

Welcome to 2014!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Do you have any new years resolutions? I have about 50 =/ One of which is to scrap more! So far so good. Which brings me to...
My first layout of the year! I think it is a good one.

Playin' Dress Ups (with nanna)

I love how different Chloe looks in each photo yet it is pretty much just a different hat and minus a skirt.

I was inspired by the current sketch challenge over at Scrap The Girls blog. A scrapping challenge blog that is dedicated to scrappy just the females in our lives!

This sketch went perfectly with these photos as I was able to split the page into two sections which reflect the two different photos, the soft pinks for the 'glam baby' and the wood with cassette tapes for the 'rock chick'. Sad to think Chloe is probably only going to see cassette tapes in museums...

In fact it was the cassette paper in the Websters Pages 'Recorded' line that prompted me to use almost entirely Websters products. All the papers are from Recorded collection and most embellishments from the Postcards From Paris 2 collection.

I played around with the papers for a long long time. Trying different boarder strips and switching the papers over trying to get the straight edge between the papers to work for me. Then inspiration hit. I decided to stagger the transition using the patterns themselves, pieces of wood and strips of 'arrows' overlapping.

So there it is. My first page of the year and hopefully a lot more to come!

Just You

Hello there fantastic people of the internet!
I have a layout of little baby Chloe to share. The photo is one of the many photos I used to take of her whenever she wore a new outfit, so there is nothing overly important about the photo, I just like it. Hence the full title is 'Nothing special Just You Sitting on a table In front of flowers' literally describing what is in the picture. (Of course I do think Chloe is extremely special.)

Just You

I took inspiration for this layout in two places. First up the current sketch over at Sketchabilities, which can be found here.

Next up was case #91 over at CSI: Colour, Stories, Inspiration.

Actually, it was probably more like three inspirations. The other one was the papers I have used. They are one of the latest collections from Websters Pages called 'Postcards from Paris 2'. It is not often (well almost never) that I stay within a collection when making a page but this time I have.

The papers are amazing! And are such good quality it seems a shame to cut them up. But thankfully I have the 6x6 paper pad as well and was very conservative even with that so I have plenty more to play with another time. Yay. I fussy cut most of the details from the pad and used the left over bits to mat the photos as per the sketch.

I felt as though the edges were too stark even after a lil bit of distressing and had just been visited by a work friend who generously brought me a gift box which had straw stuff in it, can you guess were it ended up? Yep. I sprayed a bit with green glimmer mist and stuck some down.

I also brought out yellow glimmer mist and the texture paste. I pasted over stencil waited for it to fry then sprayed the yellow around the place.

I have included hidden journalling into the page which tucks just behind the photo. I chose to go with the nothing special idea and the CSI case 91 prompt of something I enjoy everyday. Which is simply doing the mum things for my daughter. Its everyday, basic, routine and I love every bit of it!

This layout is again a different style for me. I don't think I can claim is its not my usual style as I seriously don't seem to stick to one style. I like to let the 'feel' of the photo decide.
